Necessary Tomorrows is a new monthly art series, created by resident curator Sharayna Christmas, that features work from local artists who complement the vision and mission of Ida B's Table. We kick off this initiative with the work of the late I. Henry Phillips, Sr. Mr. Phillips, Sr. captured life in the Baltimore community, particularly focusing on the joys and tribulations of the working class. His work includes tens of thousands of images, documenting the history of Baltimore, as well as the nation at-large. Photographed over three decades, Phillips chronicled American history, celebrity culture, entertainment, sports, government and politics. His photographs celebrate the richness and diversity of the African-American community, while capturing the traditions and mores of the time.
Join us on Tuesday, December 12th from 6-8pm for our opening reception where Webster Phillips III will speak about his family's legacy in photography and the body of work being exhibited at Ida B's Table. The exhibition will take place starting December 12-January 14. To purchase, please contact Webster Phillips III at 443.253.0542 or email Irving Phillips. RSVP to Eventbrite here.
